| first jessica simpson tells me that buffalos have wings, and now i'm beginning to believe that pigs have wings too!! after the first 10 games this season, my beloved lakers are 4 and 6 (0.400). but the basketball bastard child of the city of angels, clippers, are 8 and 2 (0.800). the clippers are first in the pacific division, and 2nd in the western conference right now. UNfreakin' believable!! elton brand and his band of b-ball bandits are a force to be reckoned with this season. the lakers are still my team, but i'd love to see the clippers shed their negative image such as having some lame ass calling them the basketball bastard child of the city, and bust open a serious can of hoop-action whoop-ass!! you might think that i'm just jumping on the clippers bandwagon, but, victor will surely attest, way back in the days, i predicted that the clippers will one day beat the lakers (prediction came true last friday night), and win the championship one day. don't laugh. it just might happen. and you know it.
and now, the laker girls.

| Happy Veterans Day!! Thank you for your dedication and sacrifice!
want to know a little history behind Veterans Day? i'm glad you asked!
November 11, 1918 , is generally regarded as the end of World War I. In November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day with the following words: "To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…"
Veterans Day continues to be observed on November 11, regardless of what day of the week on which it falls. The observance of Veterans Day on November 11 not only preserves the historical significance of the date, but helps focus attention on the important purpose of Veterans Day: A celebration to honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

Jennifer Love Hewitt has just been announced as the celebrity spokesperson for Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) to promote Veterans Day and youth volunteerism.
"I want to show the kids of America that veterans are not just grandparents, uncles and aunts, they're our classmates, neighbors and friends," she says. "Veterans deserve our utmost respect and admiration for the sacrifices they have made for each and every one of us. I want to bring their stories to the attention of those who need to understand that freedom isn't free."
In her new job as National Honorary Spokesperson for Veterans Day, Jennifer will visit Veteran Affairs medical centres, talk to school children about veterans and their stories and front public service announcements.
remember to show your appreciation to our brave men and women in the armed forces. http://www1.va.gov/opa/vetsday/

| this blogging thing is becoming an annual ritual for me! yes, it's been a whole year since i last posted anything. this year certainly has gone by fast. i'm not sure if i'm wiser, but i sure am a year older and grayer!
i'm not sure if i've ever explained why my xanga is called "twotired2care". (but some of you probably figured it out already) the "two tired" part refers to one of my favorite hobbies: motorcycling.

this is my current bike: 1999 Honda CBR600F4. even though it's a six year old bike with almost 20k miles on it, it still packs quite a punch. it begs to be ridden fast and hard! with a quick twist of the throttle, it transforms its owner from a mild mannered transportation planner to a reckless speed demon in 1.4 seconds flat!!

i read a cool motorcycle sticker that says, "RIDE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!" i rode it like i stole it once, and i almost killed myself!!
riding my motorcycle is quite therapeutic for me. when i ride, nothing else really matters. i can think, clear my head, and spend time by myself. hence the second part of the title, "..too care". so, "twotired2care" means that as long as i have my bike, i'm a happy camper!!

| i haven't posted anything in a long long time, but today, October 29, has a special meaning to me, so i decided to share something.
On this day in 1991, i enlisted in the Army. that was 13 years ago. my my, how time flies! thirteen years ago today, i began the most exciting, adventurous, grueling, challenging, and life-changing 4-year journey i have ever taken; and probably will ever take. and what a journey it was! contrary to popular belief, the most challenging aspect of army life was not the physically demanding aspect; although i have endured all kinds of adverse weather, marched way farther, carried much heavier loads, and stayed awake much longer than i've ever thought i could. these things did not constitue the most difficult aspect of army life. by far, the most difficult aspect of my army life was the emotional aspect. i experienced the highest highs and the lowest lows during those years. the thought of the exhilarating feeling of throwing myself out of a perfectly good airplane, the sweet sound of the M-60 going full auto, the powerful limb-numbing blasts of a anti-tank weapon or claymore mine all still stir up very proud feelings of my military service. but i still can't hardly think about the loneliness and sadness of those years without holding back the tears.
i told my mom last night that today was the 13th anniversary of my enlistment. no doubt she remembers that day very well also. she remembers the day as the day they took her boy away hours before daybreak. it was still dark outside when a recuriting sergeant came to pick me up. her boy was heading into harm's way. my mom and i didn't talk about it very much last night because i realized it was difficult for her to recall those sad feelings. through out the years, i've realized that my enlistment also took its toll on my mom's emotions. it's not easy for a loving mom to know that her son is sleeping in the rain, deprived of sleep, or being yelled at, even for the sake of training. i didn't know what to say to my mom last night except to tell her that on that dark early morning 13 years ago, they took her boy and training him into a man. | | |
| The Wonderful World of Wal-Mart
This story is too funny! perhaps it illustrates the power of the "triple dog dare"!! It could only happen in the midwest and in walmart, no less. funny story, these guys got guts! nobody could ever say they backed down from a dare!!
Thong-Wearing Men Arrested at Wal-Mart
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. - Two men who were arrested for walking through a Wal-Mart while wearing women's thong underwear blamed the stunt on a "triple-dog dare," authorities said.
The men, ages 35 and 36, bought two pair of underwear at the store Tuesday, went into a bathroom and came out wearing only the thongs and T-shirts, police said.
Witnesses said the men walked through the store and out to their car.
Police caught the men in the parking lot, and reviewed a surveillance tape before arresting them for public indecency and disorderly conduct.
When asked why they were wearing thong underwear, one of the men said a friend "triple-dog dared" them. They will not be prosecuted, authorities said.
